The plant has a long history of being used as a treatment for hair and scalp issues. Similar Species Since A. caudatum has been proven to have antispasmodic properties, it may be helpful in the management of asthma.
Since earlier civilizations, maidenhair fern has been utilized. The plant "is of particular potency in removing and destroying calculi of the bladder," according to Pliny the Elder (23-79 CE).
