Lemon verbena is a deciduous shrub with a 2 m (6 1/2 ft) height. It has clusters of tubular, light green to mauve flowers and lance-shaped leaves with a powerful aroma.

In 1784, lemon verbena was brought to Europe. The infusion is a well-liked beverage throughout Europe, particularly in Spain and France.

South America is the origin of lemon verbena. It is grown as a decorative, aromatic plant in temperate regions, and its leaves are used to prepare herbal tea. In the late summer, the leaves are harvested.

Uses

Depression has sedative properties that may help with decreasing symptoms of depression.
